BackAstray
走散
Release Date:
When it comes to love, some part ways for no reason,
somehow, we just drifted astray.
Perhaps we have all wished for this as we relive our regretful memories: If I could go back in time, I wish I would have taken our feelings seriously, to practice appreciation, to learn not to neglect, then maybe we would not have drifted astray, and we would not have left each other behind in our regrets.
In Astray, Young sings of the troubles that were often encountered in relationships. Astray describes the disappointment and regret of how two people who seemed so in love suddenly drifted apart. Young wrote the melody and lyrics himself, which speak of the regrets on love lost through snippets of the couple’s shared memories and reflections.
The song centers around the lyrics “It’s so simple to say I love you, a habit that we take for granted.” Young wrote these two lines based on his own relationship experiences as well as those of his friends some time ago, but he only found the perfect occasion to transform them into lyrics after he composed the melody for “Astray.” And from there, “Astray” found its footing.
